A bone graft is the building block for a future dental implant. In some cases, the site where a tooth was extracted needs preparation for an implant. Depending upon when the tooth was extracted, a particulate bone grafting or onlay bone graft is performed. The implant may be placed on average 3-6 months after the bone graft is performed.
